The National
Meth Chemicals Initiative (NMCI) proactively networks law enforcement
officials from across the United States and Canada to work on
strategies designed to diminish the availability of chemicals
used to manufacture methamphetamine. These efforts include domestic
and foreign sources of chemicals from large-scale diversion
to retail sales.
In addition
to two national conferences each year, the NMCI has found tremendous
success in coordinating regional committees to focus enforcement
strategies in specific areas of the western United States. The
NMCI is helping to establish the Mountain States Precursor Committee
that includes the states of Montana, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
The committee will be comprised of law enforcement officials
from these states in hope to establish a network to coordinate
proactive enforcement efforts. Anyone can be involved in the
committee and your presence is appreciated.
Attached
is an application to a secure website that has current trends
of chemicals and techniques used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
This website can only be accessed by law enforcement officials
and has a chat room to answer any questions to problems, trend,
etc., that you might have in your area.
Fill out the application and have it signed by your appropriate
supervisor and fax it to the number listed on the bottom of
the application.
Updates
on the Mountain States Precursor Committee meetings will be
posted with the agenda of the meeting.
